earth element yin

practice for late summer

This is a yin yoga practice for late Summer and the Earth element. We are used to 4 seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter, But in TCM theory, there is a 5th season: late summer, the bridge between summer and fall. This practice works to stimulate the stomach & spleen meridian lines and to help balance and support the Earth element, which is associated with late summer. Each pose is held for 3-5 min.

From yin teacher & author Gabrielle Harris:

"Just as the Earth is the caretaker & nurturer of all, the Earth element person is continuously checking that others' needs are met, that they are cared for, fed and loved. If they were brought up in a caring, loving environment, it's a natural task to pass on this nurturing. If this wasn't their experience, the uncared for Earth part of us will continuously call for love, sympathy and attention. These people are grounded, peacemakers, considerate and supportive. However, if their personal bank balance of care is not topped up, they may become overbearing, protective, needy and often worry incessantly. Without replenishment, this element quickly falls to depletion."

Here is a Five Element personality test to take to see which element(s) you lean towards! https://learnthefiveelements.com/5-elements-quiz/
